Strathmere is the rare seashore hamlet that remains an autonomous and tightly knit community founded on the good nature of its people.  We are driven by an active passion for preserving the unique natural beauty and resources of our seashore residence.  Our little town is laced with a certain quirky tradition, and thrives on the personal-and commercial-contributions of our citzenry.  We celebrate every generation who has lived here before us and strive to share and preserve their legacies with those who come after us.

• Neighborliness and Community:  We respect and look out for each other, pure and simple.  We believe our personal and public decisions should be made with the greater good as top priorty.
• Public Safety:  There is no more precious resource within our community than our people.  We will do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of human life and property.
• Honesty and Fairness:  We believe in pulling our own weight and expect others to do the same.  And we know common sense makes the most sense.
• Personal and Public Frugality:  We are prudent in our actions that affect the environment, as well as those that affect the public treasury.  We enjoy comfort, but shun extravagance.  And we manage every relevant resource with great care in an effort to maintain an affordable, livable community.
• Preservation:  We recognize that our community is founded on a most fragile environment, and we strive to enjoy its bounty with a minimum of disruption.  And while we recognize that change in all things is inevitable, we treasure the unique personality quirks that make Strathmere more of a friendly, casual village than an impersonal, bustling town.
• Advocacy:  We know that if we don't speak up, no one else will.  And if we don't take action, it just won't get done.
